Race Recap: Hickory Motor Speedway

May 23, 2024 – Hickory Motor Speedway – Hickory, NC

On May 23, Jett Noland and team hit the road for the ASA Stars Tour at the Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, North Carolina. The track is one of stock car racing’s most storied venues, and is often referred to as “The World’s Most Famous Short Track” and the “Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars.”

Despite an evening filled with challenges, Jett Noland showcased resilience and determination on the track. He started the race strong, strategically maintaining track position and running within the top 10 for the majority of the event.

“We were saving for most of the race, just trying to keep up with track position,” Jett explained in a post-race interview. However, the night took an unexpected turn when motor trouble brought an early end to our race on Pitt Road.

“There was a bit of rough driving out there from the other drivers. But, I mean, what can you do? It’s a small track,” Jett remarked, highlighting the competitive nature of Hickory Motor Speedway. Despite the challenges posed by the track and competitors, Jett’s focus remained steadfast. “We ended up having some motor trouble towards the end, about to turn it on. It felt like the car was a little sluggish all race, but we’re gonna rebuild, come back next race, and try to get the car better than it was this weekend.”

The historic Hickory Motor Speedway’s worn-out surface proves to challenge drivers. “We had a hard time trying to keep the car steady going over the bumps. We always do when we come here. But I feel like we got it better than we’ve ever had it while we were here.”

Despite the setbacks, Jett Noland Motorsports remains optimistic about the future. “I feel like we had good momentum going into the beginning of the year. Kinda slowed down a little bit right now, just because of engine issues and things like that. But I feel like we’re rebuilding, and we’ll be just as good for the next race.”

Jett Noland Motorsports is committed to overcoming these challenges and returning stronger for the upcoming races. We extend our gratitude to our fans, sponsors, and the entire racing community for their unwavering support. Stay tuned for updates as we prepare for the next race, aiming to secure a top position.
